With more and more animals arriving each month, the shelter is under growing pressure. The team is doing everything they can, but they are working with ageing facilities, sometimes relying on temporary fixes. This makes daily operations more challenging and limits the quality of life the dogs truly deserve.

 

Despite the staff’s unwavering commitment to providing care, attention, and dignity, the current condition of some enclosures makes the situation difficult to sustain long term.

Why This Project Exists

An idea born from a desire to inspire and a deep love for animals.

“We all have projects we dream about. But somehow we always convince ourselves it’s not the right time, or that we’re not ready, before we even try.

We move our ideas into the ‘one day’ folder… and then we forget about them.

 

The primary mission of this project is to improve the quality of life for animals. But through it, I also hope to inspire ordinary people, like me, to take action and go for it.

 

I truly believe we’re all capable of far more than we think.

 

To be honest, this challenge scares me on many levels. I feel underprepared. Underqualified. The odds aren’t exactly in my favor.

 

And that’s exactly why I have to do it.

The current enclosures have endured years of wear and tear. Many doors, metal frames, interior panels, and locking systems no longer meet today’s safety and durability standards.

Over time, structures weaken, mechanisms become less reliable, and maintenance grows more complicated. This isn’t about appearances. It’s about safety, well-being, and giving the staff the ability to do their work effectively every single day.

Upgrading the enclosures will provide a safer, more stable environment for dogs waiting to be adopted, while also making daily care easier for the team.

Every improvement directly reduces risk, increases comfort, and ensures that the dogs receive the care they deserve in a space designed for their reality.

All funds raised are transferred directly to the SPCA de l'Outaouais to support the construction of their new shelter and improve living conditions for animals awaiting adoption.
